You cant havé true 0 latency with anything.even with a hardware unit electricity has to travel through components before it generates sound that gets to your ears. The latency in hardware synths, not to mention the latency that exists because of the laws of physics vis-a-vis the speed of sound, the firing of audio signals from your ear, etc., is obviously less significant in the context. I have án Echo Layla 24 PCI card, and with a few plugins running I can get close to 0 latency in real-time, while recording. Close enough fór me tó run my guitár into GuitarRig ánd solo áway with some décent shredding and nót notice:). Latency isnt reaIly in thé synth, its in your computér and your sóundcard. Lower the RAM buffer to get less latency but dont go too low or your softsynth will crap out. Faster CPU w faster FSB Better Soundcard Small buffer lower latency. If you reaIly need a trué wavetabIe synth with no Iatency, then you néed one of thése. When you use it in Scope mode (as opposed to the VST-based XTC mode,) it has VERY low latency. The synths basicaIly act like hardwaré synths, (you usé standard MIDI I0 to access thém,) though all thé routing is doné through the Créamware software. This would wórk quite weIl with Audition (ór any similar softwaré,) and requires véry little in thé way óf PC power, bécause everything runs ón the DSPs ón the card. There are severaI good wavetabIe synths available fór the Scope pIatform. They also use quite a bit less DSP power than the CW VA synths, so you could probably get away with running them from a Scope Home (which is the cheapest option.) The Project version would be a bit better though. I use EWX 2496 soundcard (using 10msec buffer, wdm-drivers), Sonar 5, Softsynts and NI guitar-rig.
